Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the marketplace collects, uses, shares, protects, and retains information in connection with browsing, accounts, listings, verification, communications, payments, trust and safety, analytics, and marketplace operations.

Information we collect

We may collect account information, contact details, role declarations, profile settings, language and display preferences, listing information, property media, seller or agent authorization evidence, verification document submissions, transaction records, support messages, fraud reports, device and browser information, approximate location signals, referral information, and operational logs.

Photo and location metadata

When users upload listing photos, the platform may inspect image metadata server-side before compression or storage. This can include photo taken time, GPS coordinates, camera make and model, drone or phone evidence, file hashes, perceptual hashes, and anomaly flags. Metadata is used for freshness, provenance, duplicate detection, location integrity, moderation, and buyer trust signals. Sensitive raw metadata may be stripped from public images after the platform records the trust evidence it needs.

Verification documents

Identity, ownership, authorization, and eligibility documents are used to verify users and listings, prevent fraud, satisfy operational requirements, and support dispute handling. Sensitive identifiers may be hashed or restricted where feasible. Public users do not receive private verification documents.

How we use information

We use information to provide the marketplace, personalize preferences, publish and rank listings, verify users and property evidence, generate trust signals, prevent fraud and impersonation, support payments and transaction workflows, send notifications, measure performance, improve search and recommendations, comply with legal obligations, and protect platform integrity.

Sharing and processors

We may use infrastructure, database, storage, email, analytics, error monitoring, payment, identity, messaging, AI, maps, and security vendors to operate the platform. Vendors should receive only the information needed for their function. We may share information with verified counterparties, agents, payment or escrow partners, moderators, professional advisors, authorities, or dispute participants where necessary for marketplace operations, compliance, safety, or a user-requested transaction.

Cookies, preferences, and analytics

The platform uses cookies or similar storage for authentication, language, currency, area unit, calendar preferences, saved flows, referral attribution, anti-abuse controls, and PWA behavior. Analytics and operational events may be used to understand product performance, listing demand, fraud patterns, and reliability.

Data retention

Retention depends on the type of record. Account and preference data may be retained while an account is active. Listing, verification, audit, transaction, payment, fraud-prevention, and dispute records may be retained longer where needed for safety, legal, accounting, compliance, or operational reasons. Backups may persist for a limited period according to infrastructure provider settings.

Security

The platform uses role-based access controls, row-level security, server-side validation, rate limiting, audit logs, environment validation, and other safeguards. No system is risk-free, so users should report suspicious activity and avoid trusting off-platform payment or verification requests.

User choices

Users may update profile preferences, notification preferences, and some account information in the product. Requests about access, correction, deletion, or account support should be sent through the official support channel. Some records may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, compliance, transaction integrity, backups, or legal reasons.

International users

Diaspora users or users outside Ethiopia may have additional payment, KYC, eligibility, tax, or regulatory considerations. The platform may process data across borders through its infrastructure and service providers.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the product, vendors, legal obligations, or security posture changes. The active policy on the platform is the current public reference.

This baseline is informational operating text and does not constitute legal advice. Counsel must review and approve the final launch privacy policy before public production use.
